Road Improvements

ROADS are on everybody’s minds these days.  There is no escaping for any of us when it comes to our frustration over roads.  Unfortunately, the Department of Transportation is the ultimate decision-maker about which Traffic comicprojects get funded and when.  Yes, we have a voice at MUMPO through an appointed MUMPO representative, but we are not having much of an influential voice, so it seems.  Thus a strategy needs to be developed as to how Indian Trail can become more influential at MUMPO, and not simply overlooked and brushed aside.  Looking at the feasibility of partnering with other local municipalities may allow for a unified voice that is more effective when it comes to being heard.  Finding other communities that may have achieved such success in this regard should be sought out and consulted for insight and fresh ideas.  Indian Trail can get creative in our approach to road projects, and there is no doubt that this must be explored as a priority.

Additionally, we as a town must set an expectation with developers to ensure their provision of adequate and timely road improvements as part of any future projects in order to facilitate traffic flow in newly developed areas.  Having to look at unfinished, “dragging-on” road improvements, especially in high traffic commercial areas, is unacceptable.

Part of my platform is to make Indian Trail a place that is attractive to both  new and relocating businesses.  Creating local jobs here will help to reduce the amount of travel on our roads into and returning from Charlotte.
