QUALITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT is of vital importance to Indian Trail. Prospecting for and creating opportunities that will attract businesses to Indian Trail will serve to provide for a much needed stream of commercially generated tax revenue–a great benefit to our 25,000+ residents. Indian Trail residents will benefit greatly from quality economic development by increasing our commercial tax base and thus reducing the residential tax burden on our homeowners. Indian 
Trail needs to establish a reputation of being “business-friendly” and work to actively recruit businesses to our area, bringing jobs and much needed commercial tax revenue.
Indian Trail is a prime area for a relocating business in many ways. We have a highly educated and skilled population of people who live right here in the community, many who travel to Charlotte. We are the suburb of a modern and growing city that is a popular choice for people relocating from all over this country. Taking a look at what incentives and benefits Indian Trail can offer to businesses to lure them here is a worthy project, no doubt. We are in a prime location for business and industry, and we should have been capitalizing on this long ago.
An Economic & Business Development professional would be a tremendous asset to our town in order to market the Town of Indian Trail and aggressively pursue business and industry. If we can increase our commercial development while leaving our residential where it is, we will generate revenue for the town without contributing further to the overpopulation of our schools. New jobs bring new employess, which may help to sell more of the homes currently in our glut of resale inventory–one family moves in, the other moves out.
I plan to work toward devising a strategy that makes Indian Trail a place that is attractive to new and relocating businesses. Let’s add the “work“ to the “live, work and play” concept. It can mean less miles traveled on our roads into and out of town, more revenue generation to use toward other worthwhile projects, and a positive impact on property values.
